SANDAG Unveils 100 Pit Stops And New Regional Bike Map Ahead of Bike To Work Day

SANDAG Bike to Work Day is back, and the 2022 Pit Stop Map is now available for commuters to map their ride ahead of the annual event on Thursday, May 19, from 6 - 9 a.m.

For more than 30 years, SANDAG has hosted the regional event to celebrate Bike Month in May and to promote biking as a viable, fun, and healthy alternative transportation choice for everyday trips.

This year, SANDAG is also celebrating Bike Month with the release of a redesigned pocket-sized bike map featuring more than 1,700 miles of bikeways in the San Diego region.

Under the SANDAG Early Action Program, SANDAG has built 22 miles of new bikeways in the San Diego region. In addition, there are 20 new SANDAG bike projects currently in progress, including 11 miles of bikeways that are expected to open in 2022.

The SANDAG Bike to Work Day 2022 Pit Stop Map includes 100 locations across the San Diego region, from Oceanside to Tijuana, for bike riders to pick up a free commemorative t-shirt, grab refreshments and snacks, and receive encouragement from pit stop hosts from health care organizations, local businesses, municipalities, government agencies, colleges and schools, bike shops, and event sponsors.
SANDAG invites those working remotely to join the festivities by starting their day with a bike ride and rolling by one of the many pit stops.

Registration is required for participants to receive a free t-shirt on SANDAG Bike to Work Day. Pit stop hosts will scan participant registration confirmation barcodes to track participation. Register for Bike to Work Day today or during the event at any of the 100 pit stops in the region.
