Community Planning
In alignment with the 2021 Regional Plan, Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plans are data-driven plans to reduce vehicle miles traveled and greenhouse gas emissions and generate transportation choices while preserving community character and creating opportunities for enhancement projects.
Current Community Planning Projects
The project includes Palomar Airport Road, SR 78, and SR 76 in the cities of Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Carlsbad, and Oceanside, as well as a portion of San Diego County and incorporates the Inland Rail Trail and the North County Transit District SPRINTER transit line.
The project includes SR 52, SR 67, I-5, I-8, I-15, SR 125, SR 163, and I-805 in the cities of San Diego, Santee, and El Cajon, as well as a small portion of the County of San Diego.
Central Mobility Hub and Connections
The project includes the Midway District, Old Town, Point Loma, and Downtown communities within the City of San Diego as well as I-5, I-8, Pacific Highway, connections to San Diego International Airport, and other major transportation connections.
The project includes the City of Poway, the County of San Diego (Ramona and Lakeside communities), and Barona Reservation, and incorporates SR 67 and SR 78.
The project includes the cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, Coronado, National City, and Imperial Beach and incorporates I-805, I-5, SR 905, the COASTER, multiple Rapid lines, and the Bayshore Bikeway.
San Diego Military Installation Resilience (Phases I & II)
SANDAG and Navy Region Southwest are working collaboratively, along with our regional stakeholder partners, to identify and address climate change impacts that could affect the resiliency of local naval installations and harm efforts to remain mission-ready.
The project includes I-8 and its connections with I-5, I-805, I-15, SR 125, and SR 67 in the cities of San Diego, Santee, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and El Cajon, as well as the County of San Diego.
