At the annual Diamond Awards reception, SANDAG recognizes organizations in the Employer Commuter program from across the San Diego region for their accomplishments in promoting sustainable commute choices in the workplace.
By offering their employees a variety of transportation options like vanpools, carpools, emergency ride home reimbursements, bike lockers, and more, organizations can earn points to receive recognition in one of four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
Employers in any industry or workforce size are eligible to participate in the complimentary Employer Commuter Program to be recognized at the annual Diamond Awards reception. To learn more about setting up a commuter program at your organization, email sustainabletransportation@sandag.org.
2026 Diamond Awards
We will recognize 146 employers at the 2026 Diamond Awards reception for their achievements in encouraging sustainable transportation. Platinum-tier recipients were responsible for:
- Reducing over 976,000 vehicle miles traveled
- Reducing over 83,000 tons of CO2 emissions
We also recognized a number of our region’s “star commuters” like Javier, a dedicated vanpool driver who has been commuting with 14 of his colleagues for more than 30 years at Watkins Wellness.
