Adaptation and Resilience

Climate adaptation and resilience planning helps communities prepare for and respond to the impacts of a changing climate. In the San Diego region, these impacts include sea level rise, flooding, coastal erosion, drought, extreme heat, wildfires, and other stressors that impact people, infrastructure, and natural resources. SANDAG works with local jurisdictions, tribal governments, public agencies, community organizations, and other partners to support adaptation planning and advance regional coordination. Because these risks extend beyond jurisdictional boundaries, regional coordination can help communities identify shared challenges, align strategies, and build resilience more effectively.
