Project Overview
The new Rapid 277 will provide a faster way for people to get from Ramona to Poway via State Route 67 without a car. SANDAG is potentially considering Sabre Springs Transit Center or Miramar Transit Center as the route's terminus, where Rapid 277 will connect to other major transit routes providing access to jobs, schools, and other vital destinations throughout the San Diego region. Businesses along the route will benefit from improved access for customers and potential employees, while fewer cars on the road will help improve traffic flow for commuters.
Schedule
Since early 2025, SANDAG has been studying where the route could go, its potential stops, and many other details, while continuing to collect public feedback along the way to inform this process. This work will continue through 2027. Pending funding for planning, design, and construction, Rapid 277 could be open for riders as soon as 2029.
Budget
In October 2023, the SANDAG Board of Directors approved $26.6 million for the planning and design of six new Rapid routes. The current planning study for Rapid 277 is funded with TransNet funds, and the total expected cost is approximately $2.5 million.
