Project Overview

Completed in 2014 in partnership with Caltrans, the Interstate 805 HOV/Carroll Canyon Road Extension included the extension of Carroll Canyon Road under I-805, construction of two miles of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in each direction along I-805 from I-5 to Carroll Canyon Road, and construction of a northbound Direct Access Ramp from the Carroll Canyon Road extension to the HOV lanes.

The result is a continuous 10-mile carpool/HOV lane in each direction from Mira Mesa Boulevard on I-805 to Manchester Avenue on I-5.

Schedule

The project opened to traffic in April 2014.

Budget

The project cost $94.8 million, and it was financed by a combination of funds from the City of San Diego, Qualcomm, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and TransNet.
