Try Transit is a component of our commuter programs that provides eligible employees with a one-month pass to try available transit options—bus, train, or Trolley—in the San Diego region. The Try Transit program is a joint effort between SANDAG, Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), and the North County Transit District (NCTD). Together, MTS and NCTD carry more than 100 million passengers annually.

To participate in Try Transit, an individual must be part of a community that participates in a SANDAG Commuter Program and meet the following requirements:

• The individual is not a current transit rider and has not used transit to commute in the past two months.
• The individual agrees to take at least eight transit trips (four round trips) during the month.
• The individual will complete a survey at the end of the trial.
• The individual’s transit commute covers a reasonable distance.

Transit riders are also eligible for a reimbursed ride home in the event of a qualified emergency under the Guaranteed Ride Home program.
