SANDAG invites the San Diego region to celebrate National Bike Month this May by participating in SANDAG Bike Anywhere Day on Thursday, May 16. The annual event, formerly known as Bike to Work Day, encourages everyone to ride to work, school, the beach, or anywhere.

Bike Anywhere Day is a free event open to everyone. Participants can pedal to one of the 100 pit stops from 7 to 10 a.m. across the region for refreshments, bike maps, and a free commemorative 2024 Bike Anywhere Day t-shirt while supplies last. The regional event aims to promote biking as a viable, fun, and healthy transportation choice for everyday trips and to combat traffic congestion and air pollution.

With nearly 1,800 miles of bikeways, the San Diego region is one of the most exciting places in the country for bike infrastructure and continues to add improvements across the region. SANDAG is currently building three additional bikeways: Border to Bayshore, Bayshore Bikeway Barrio Logan, and the Pershing Bikeway, and expects to start construction on four more projects in 2024.

Anyone 18 or older who lives or works in the San Diego region and signs up for Bike Anywhere Day will be automatically entered into the Bike Anywhere Day Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of three e-bikes, courtesy of Velotric.

Pit stops are crucial to the success of the event and a great way for local businesses to show their support for sustainable and equitable transportation. Organizations interested in supporting the event by hosting a pit stop must apply by Sunday, March 31.
