Public Private Partnerships

At SANDAG, we strive to deliver the highest-quality transportation infrastructure projects for our region. When it comes to implementing complex projects in the Regional Plan, many of which involve emerging technologies, SANDAG must re-think our traditional contracting methods and pursue new innovative ways of delivering projects. SANDAG is establishing a Public-Private Partnership (P3) Program to facilitate collaboration with the private sector to help deliver projects significantly faster than historically have been possible.

Public-Private Partnerships are long-term agreements between a public agency and private sector partner(s) that use an integrated approach to develop, finance, and deliver projects. The P3 Program will evaluate strategic initiatives that present a suitable opportunity for private sector participation, develop a pipeline of projects, and a strategy to attract investors.

Do you have an innovative new idea or proposal that will help meet SANDAG’s goals? Board Policy 40 on Unsolicited Proposals outlines the process for unsolicited proposals and partnership requests seeking to work with SANDAG in a public private partnership (P3) or other similar arrangement.
