Input received during the virtual meeting will help inform the North County Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan, which will identify integrated transportation solutions that enhance the way people travel throughout North County. These solutions will be tailored to North County travel needs and improve connectivity for the five vibrant cities of Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, and Carlsbad, and parts of unincorporated San Diego County.

The public is invited to provide input on the North County Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan by completing a survey available in English and Spanish on the project’s virtual engagement site through the summer of 2021. Additionally, location-specific feedback can also be provided via an interactive map on the virtual engagement site. The North County corridor plan is expected to be completed by late 2021.

The North County study area, which includes communities along State Route 78 between Oceanside and Escondido, is one of the first five corridors prioritized for a Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan. These plans aim to reduce congestion and generate more transportation options while preserving community character and creating opportunities for future enhancements. Corridor plans include all transportation facilities in a defined corridor – roadways, public transit, bikeways, mobility hubs, and more.

Eleven data-driven corridor plans aim to create a comprehensive set of safe, sustainable, and equitable transportation solutions tailored to the needs of corridor residents and travelers. The corridor plans are aligned with the draft 2021 Regional Plan, the blueprint for a faster, fairer, and cleaner transportation system in the San Diego region. The corridor plans are necessary to be eligible for certain state and federal funding and grant opportunities, including Senate Bill 1 funds.

Recordings from previous public meetings for other corridor plans can be found on the SANDAGmeetings YouTube channel.
