Downtown San Diego Rapid Stations
SANDAG and the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) have launched an innovative regional transit service designed to provide new transit options to people who work, live, and play in Downtown San Diego.
Rapid is a new, high-frequency transit system being designed and built throughout the region that offers Downtown San Diego employees and patrons more frequent, rapid, and reliable service between home, office, and entertainment destinations.
The I-15 Corridor Rapid line began serving San Diego County in June 2014. A second Rapid line in Mid-City also will begin in 2014. A third line will begin serving South Bay in 2015. All of these lines will terminate in Downtown San Diego along the Broadway corridor.
Construction of the stations began in March 2014 with stations on 11th Avenue and a bus-only lane to improve traffic flow. Stations along Broadway will be constructed between summer 2014 and summer 2015.
