San Diego Regional Plug-in Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Working Group (REVI)

The San Diego region is at the forefront of plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) deployment with the highest per capita amount of PEV purchases and car charging equipment installations in the nation. The region’s early PEV experiences have identified barriers to widespread PEV adoption, which are best addressed by strategic and coordinated consensus.

The San Diego Regional PEV Readiness Plan (Readiness Plan) was developed to support the growing market of PEVs in the San Diego region by enabling municipalities and others to address and resolve challenges to deploying charging infrastructure, referred to as electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). The Readiness Plan, best practice materials, and fact sheets were prepared through the establishment and input of the San Diego Regional Electric Vehicle Infrastructure working group or “REVI.”

SANDAG partnered with the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE) to undertake this effort and develop a regionally relevant PEV readiness plan for EV charging stations that could be used by local governments, regional agencies, the utility, universities, and business interests to further PEV adoption in the San Diego region.
