Comprehensive Transportation Projects

Cycle 10 Call for Projects: Specialized Transportation Grant Program

Approximately every two years, SANDAG conducts a competitive process to award funding through the Specialized Transportation Grant Program (STGP). SANDAG is preparing for the Cycle 10 Call for Projects, which is anticipated to be released in summer 2018.

The SANDAG STGP funds projects and programs that expand mobility options for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Funding for the STGP comes from two sources: the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 program and the TransNet Senior Mini-Grant program.

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, purchase of accessible vans and buses, coordinated volunteer driver programs, shopping shuttle services, non-emergency medical trips, and transit travel training classes.

Staff is currently seeking input to help inform potential revisions to the program requirements and evaluation criteria.

Specialized Transportation Grant Program Workshop

SANDAG hosted a workshop on February 28, 2018, with current grantees and past applicants to discuss the program draft goal and objectives, minimum and maximum grant request amounts, match requirement, and performance indicators. The workshop included facilitated discussions and break-out sessions specifically on funding and performance indicators.
