- 2008 Metropolitan Transit System Mission Valley East Light Rail Trolley Project selected as one of five finalists by the American Society of Civil Engineers for the 2008 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement award. The winner will be announced in April 2008.
- 2007 Exemplary Small Business Program Initiative Award, San Diego Supplier Development Council.
- 2007 Medallion Award - San Diego Society for Human Resource Management, Workplace Excellence Awards.

- 2007 American Probation and Parole Association University of Cincinnati Award for significant contributions to the field of criminal justice research. - 2007 San Diego Metropolitan magazine’s “40 Under Forty” honoree – Dr. Cynthia Burke (The annual “40 Under 40” list names top young professionals who are shaping the future of the San Diego region. Honorees are selected for their outstanding professional success and community involvement.)
- Best Practice Award – American Planning Association, San Diego Chapter, 2007. Awarded for development of the Smart Growth Concept Map. The map identifies locations within the region that can support smart growth and transportation investments.
- Social Change and Diversity Award - American Planning Association, San Diego Chapter, 2007. Awarded in partnership with the Southern California Tribal Chairmen’s Association for developing a regional government-to-government framework for addressing planning issues of mutual concern.
- Leadership and Service Award - American Planning Association, San Diego Chapter, 2007. Awarded in recognition of SANDAG’s efforts toward implementing the Regional Comprehensive Plan.
- Best Framework for Smart Growth Award - Urban Land Institute (ULI), San Diego/Tijuana Chapter, 2007. Awarded for the Smart Growth Concept Map (mixed-use and transit-oriented development).
- Grand Golden Watchdog Award - San Diego Taxpayers Association, 2006. Awarded for the TransNet Environmental Mitigation Program.
