Census and ACS Microdata Workshop:

Have you ever felt limited by the tables available through the Census Bureau’s American FactFinder tool? Do you want to analyze Census and ACS data over time?... If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, this workshop is for you.

Workshop Description:

This hands-on workshop will be led by Katie Genadek, from the Minnesota Population Center (MPC) at the University of Minnesota. The following topics will be covered.

  • What is the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series (IPUMS)
  • What data are available via the IPUMS
  • How are the data documented and how can I utilize the interactive metada?
  • How can I select the data I am interested in and download it for analysis
  • How can I analyze the data without a statistical software packa?

This workshop will include time for hands-on experience, so bring your specific questions so you can access the data you need as part of the learning process.
