Grant Funding Available for Transportation Providers Serving Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities

On July 24, 2020, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Board of Directors approved the eligibility and evaluation criteria for the Cycle 11 Call for Projects through the Specialized Transportation Grant Program (STGP). Today, SANDAG announced the release of the Cycle 11 Call for Projects, which distributes available TransNet Senior Mini-Grant and Federal Transit Administration Section 5310 funds. SANDAG invites programs providing specialized transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities to apply for funding; SANDAG anticipates that approximately $7.2 million in funding is available. Eligible applicants include local government agencies, tribal governments, social service agencies, private and public operators of public transportation, and nonprofit organizations. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, volunteer driver and shuttle programs, non-emergency medical trips, mobility management, travel training, and the purchase of accessible vehicles. All projects require matching funds. Grant applications and related materials are available at sandag.org/stgpcycle11. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on October 30, 2020. SANDAG encourages potential applicants to attend a grant applicant workshop on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Details of this virtual workshop will be available at sandag.org/stgpcycle11.
