Community Planning

Central Mobility Hub and Connections

Central Mobility Hub and ConnectionsThe Central Mobility Hub and Connections Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan (CMH and Connections CMCP) will propose transportation solutions in the area of San Diego International Airport and the surrounding communities, focusing on the proposed development of the Central Mobility Hub.

Communities in the CMH and Connections CMCP study area include the Midway District, Old Town, parts of Point Loma, and Downtown San Diego. Major transportation facilities to be studied include Interstate 5, Interstate 8, Pacific Highway, other major transportation connections, and the Central Mobility Hub with a direct transit connection to San Diego International Airport.

Efforts Underway

SANDAG and Caltrans held public workshops on Thursday, March 11, 2021 and Monday, June 7, 2021. The first workshop reviewed the project study area and presented concepts for the Central Mobility Hub. The second workshop provided a summary of public input received and presented proposed transportation solutions to improve movement throughout the corridor, including connections to and from the Central Mobility Hub.

If you were unable to join the virtual meetings, recordings of the workshops are available on our virtual engagement site.

On our virtual engagement site, you can also view an interactive map featuring community feedback that was received during the comment period of March 11 – June 18, 2021. This feedback is being used to refine the Central Mobility Hub concepts and develop transportation solutions for improving how people and goods move through the project study area.

About Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plans

CMCPs are data-driven plans to reduce vehicle miles traveled and greenhouse gas emissions, generate transportation choices, and preserve community character while creating opportunities for enhancement projects. CMCPs include all travel modes in a defined corridor – roadways, public transit, bikeways, and more. View the CMCP corridor map.

CMCPs are the implementation blueprints that take the transportation vision of 2021 Regional Plan and explore the programs and projects that can be developed to make it a reality.
