Transit First: Public Transit
Transit First

Transit First is a system of fast and frequent transit directly serving neighborhood centers. An enhanced customer experience on both vehicles and at stations will make transit an attractive alternative to driving.

Transit First develops new services and facilities throughout the region on key corridors in the region. These corridors include the Mid-Coast Super Loop serving UCSD and University City; San Diego State University to downtown San Diego; and South Bay to downtown and Sorrento Mesa; Oceanside to Vista; and the Escondido Transit Center to Westfield Shopping Town North County.

Projects in these corridors will showcase the benefits of the Transit First strategy, by providing higher speeds and fewer stops. Operations and infrastructure strategies ranging from traffic signal priority to dedicated transit lanes will be implemented.

SANDAG, MTS, and NCTD are working together to implement more transit options throughout the county.
