Trees to be removed along San Diego River Bridge near Friars Rd

October 10, 2017 - Starting Tuesday, October 10, crews will remove trees located within the Mid-Coast Trolley project area along the San Diego River Bridge, between Friars Road and the Ocean Beach Bike Path.

This work is anticipated to be ongoing through mid-October 2017. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some night work may be required to complete this work. Night work hours are Monday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Upon completion of construction, trees and other types of vegetation will be replanted where possible.

The San Diego River Bridge Double Track project will add a second main track from Tecolote Road to just north of the Old Town Transit Center. Concurrently, SANDAG is building the Mid-Coast Trolley project, an 11-mile extension of the San Diego Trolley within the same right-of-way.

Once complete, the Mid-Coast Trolley project will extend Blue Line service from Old Town to the University City community, serving the VA Medical Center, UC San Diego, and the busy commercial and residential districts along Genesee Avenue. Major construction work began in 2016, with service anticipated to begin in 2021.
