Workshop Description

This hands-on workshop will be led by Katie Genadek from the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota. The following topics will be covered.

• What is the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series (IPUMS)?
• What data are available via the IPUMS?
• How are the data documented and how can I utilize the interactive metadata?
• How can I select the data I am interested in and download it for analysis?
• How can I analyze the data without a statistical software package?

This workshop will include time for hands-on experience, so bring your specific questions so you can access the data you need as part of the learning process.
