| Coordinated Plan Workshop
Date: 4/26/12 - 4/26/12 SANDAG will host a series of workshops around San Diego County this month to solicit public input on where and how specialized public transportation can fill the gaps – especially for seniors, low-income, and disabled individuals -- in the existing transit system.
SANDAG will hold the public meetings as part of its update of the region’s Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan. SANDAG is asking the public to help identify transit needs from the passenger perspective. The comments from these meetings will become part of the Short Range Transit Plan, a framework for transit system development over the next five years.
Each year, approximately $3.6 million to $5 million in grant funds are available to finance specialized transportation solutions that fill the gaps in the overall transportation system.
A key goal of this year’s plan is to further refine the specific needs of people who are most likely to use transit and or specialized transportation, such as vanpools, and mini-bus and van services. Accordingly, SANDAG has gathered information from more than 120 transportation providers on the types of populations being served by specialized transportation, as well as the service types and programs utilized within the region.
The meetings will be held on the following dates:
April 26, 2012 Caltrans 4050 Taylor St. San Diego, CA 92110 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Chula Vista City Hall 276 Fourth Avenue Chula Vista, CA 91910 3 to 4:30 p.m.
