Airport Vehicle Rebate Program

The Airport Vehicle Rebate Program (AVRP) is managed by the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE). The program provides cash incentives to vehicle operators and fleet managers providing San Diego airport ground transportation services. AVRP incentives help offset the cost of purchasing lower emission, alternative fuel taxis, shuttles and door-to-door vans. The program also provides free technical training and support about vehicle options for transportation providers.

As the AVRP advances, SANDAG’s role is to help determine if this type of program could benefit public agency fleets and to help identify alternative fuel supply considerations.

SANDAG plans to provide:

• Outreach and education to local governments and public agencies in the region about alternative fuel options for transportation fleets and the AVRP;
• Map existing and potential opportunity areas for alternative fuel infrastructure in relation to the region’s land use and transportation network;
• Promote the development of consistent and reliable alternative fuel infrastructure network in San Diego County; and,
• Consider the potential for linking alternative fuel infrastructure to regional transit and air quality programs.
