Comprehensive Fare Ordinance amendments proposed

The SANDAG Transportation Committee will hold a public hearing at a special meeting on September 20, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. to receive comments on proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Fare Ordinance. The Ordinance is proposed to be updated to include the fare for the North County Transit District (NCTD) SPRINTER light rail service, price changes to Regional monthly transit passes, some Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) cash fares, and a change in the MTS transfer policy.SPRINTER

Proposed SPRINTER Fare
SPRINTER service fares are proposed to be priced the same as BREEZE with the basic fare (age 6 and older) priced at $2 for a single-ride and $4 for an unlimited use Day Pass. All MTS and NCTD passes valid on BREEZE will be valid on SPRINTER.

Proposed MTS Changes
The Regional Monthly Passes are proposed to be increased from $60 to $64, with Youth Monthly Passes proposed to increase from $30 to $32, the Senior, Disabled and Medicare Monthly Passes proposed to increase from $15 to $16, and the premium Adult Monthly Pass proposed to increase from $84 to $90. Proposed cash fare increases on MTS services include local fares increasing from $1.75 to $2.00, and premium express fares increasing from $4 to $5. It also is proposed to eliminate transfers among MTS services. Transfers will be replaced by the current $5 day pass to be offered on all MTS services.
