Michael Ronkin, from the Oregon Department of Transportation, widely considered to be the most effective state coordinator in the country, will discuss his ideas of what a city can look like if it provides accommodations for cyclists, pedestrians, and transit on arterial streets. Ronkin has changed the culture in Oregon so that engineers see bike and pedestrian facilities as part of their own vision for transportation. The free workshop will be held on October 19, 2005 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the SANDAG 7th Floor Board Room. SANDAG is located in downtown San Diego on 401 B Street. Online registration is available.
