'Vanpool Challenge' results in
10 new vanpools
Ten new vanpools are commuting following the “Vanpool Challenge” held to celebrate Rideshare Week 2009. During October, the
Vanpool Challenge promoted to commuters to help reduce traffic in the region by starting a new vanpool. The SANDAG vanpool vendors, Enterprise Rideshare and VPSI, Inc., gave a $100 gas card to any group that started vanpooling, on top of the $400 monthly subsidy vanpools receive through SANDAG. Ten new vanpools were formed, bringing the total number to 658 vanpools throughout the San Diego region. That’s more than 5,200 people commuting to work together – rather than driving alone in a car.
Vanpooling is a convenient, cost-effective way to get to work. Vanpools, which essentially are a big carpool of seven to15 passengers, save you money, reduce your stress, and help the environment.
