Compass Card update Cmpass Card

Since launching in May 2009, the Compass Card program has expanded from selling COASTER and Premium Express Bus passes to selling regional passes on Compass Cards at 20 Vons locations, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Transit Store, and North County Transit District (NCTD) customer service centers. This incremental roll-out will continue until all Vons in San Diego County, as well as several other retail outlets, are selling transit passes on Compass Card. Regular fare adult passes also are available on Compass Card at Ticket Vending Machines located at MTS or NCTD rail stations, online, or by calling 511.

Approximately 17,000 monthly pass holders are now using the plastic, reusable Compass Card. For their rides on public transit, Compass Card users tap their cards on designated validators before they ride. That tap verifies they have a valid transit pass loaded on the card.

Once transit riders have a Compass Card, it becomes their permanent transit pass medium. Users reload their transit pass on it at the location from which they purchased it, by calling the customer service center, or by visiting www.511sd.com/compass. Riders also can sign up for automatic reload and their next month’s transit pass is conveniently available.

Compass Card holders also may register their cards. If a registered Compass Card is lost or stolen, SANDAG will replace the card and restore the balance of the transit pass.

For more information, please contact the Compass Card customer service center between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling 511 and saying “Compass,” or visitwww.511sd.com/compass.
