After ten months in operation, the buses on shoulders demonstration project has received high marks for efficiency, safety, and innovation.

Westbound widening of SR 52 set to begin
On October 28, 2006, SANDAG and Caltrans broke ground on the highly-anticipated widening of westbound SR 52 from two to three lanes between Mast Boulevard and Santo Road.

Meth costly for San Diego region
Methamphetamine use has increased among the adult and juveile arrestee population over the past several years, according to a new report by the SANDAG Criminal Justice Research Division.

The U.S. Evironmental Protection Agency has compiled its second annual list of San Diego's Best Workplaces for Commuters.

Funding for low income and disabled transportation services
SANDAG will distribute approximately $1.25 million in funds to San Diego County programs that fund transportation services and facilities for persons with disabilities or transportation to work for low-income seniors.

New SPRINTER vehicles tested
On October 27, 2006, NCTD began testing SPRINTER vehicles on 3,000 feet of track near the line's Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Escondido.

On November 2, 2006, CityLink, MTS, and the City of San Diego celebrated the grand opening of the Village at Morena Vista, a 5.27 mixed use complex adjacent to the Morena/Linda Vista Trolley Station.
