SANDAG Web Site Offers Wealth of Services

SANDAG’s multi-faceted Web site continues to offer the public a number of free tools to obtain demographic and economic data, and generate customized and interactive online maps. These include:

SANDAG also disseminates a number of printed documents via its Public Information Office (PIO) such as the “INFO” publication which focuses on regional data and statistical information; project and service specific fact sheets; printed maps; and numerous agency reports. Most of these materials are also available online.

The PIO is available by telephone (619-699-1950) or E-mail to assist the general public, elected officials, member agencies, and community organizations in locating information. The PIO can also provide guidance in using the online tools.

In addition, SANDAG’s Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program provides member agencies with customized data and technical service needs. Member agencies have access to SANDAG resources to assist in a variety of policy and planning activities. Staff from all members represented on the SANDAG Board of Directors may access LTA services. Guidelines for using the program are available on our Web site, along with sample LTA projects. The program also fields requests for customized demographic/economic data, transportation analysis, surveys, and other specialized services to fully empower participating agencies. To learn more, download the LTA 2004 newsletter.

Similar customized data and services are available to non-member agencies and individuals through SourcePoint, a non-profit corporation chartered by SANDAG. See the SourcePoint section of our Web site for more information and examples of studies prepared for clients.
