Tap & Ride with Compass Card
The official rollout of Compass Cards to all public transit continues! During the next few months paper monthly pass holders will transfer to the latest in smart card technology for transit. By fall 2009, all monthly paper transit passes will be on Compass Cards.
Bike lockers help ease commute
When you bike back and forth to a transit center and use a free bike locker, you will save money on gas, store your bicycle safely, and help the environment, all while getting exercise and saving yourself the hassle of carrying your bike and equipment onto transit.
Get involved in the Mid-Coast Corridor Transit Project
Residents, students, business leaders, employers, and other stakeholders are invited to submit an application to serve on the Mid-Coast Corridor Transit Project Working Group. Applications are due June 22.
Volunteers needed to help plan region's future
SANDAG is seeking public volunteers for its Regional Planning Stakeholders Working Group (SWG). The SWG will act in an advisory capacity to both the SANDAG Regional Planning and Transportation Committees on the development of the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan and its components, and laying the foundation for the next Regional Comprehensive Pan update. Applications are due June 22 and June 30.
Quarterly transportation progress report
Each quarter, SANDAG issues a transportation progress report to its Board of Directors to keep the members apprised of the many projects underway in the region. By leveraging state, federal, and local TransNet dollars, SANDAG funds transportation improvements and services designed to give commuters more choices and reduce growing traffic congestion.
$9.4 million awarded for smart growth projects
The SANDAG Board of Directors awarded $9.4 million in grants to municipalities on May 22, 2009, to help pay for smart growth initiatives – improvements that support compact, transit-oriented developments that also create interesting places within communities.
SuperLoop to begin interim service June 15
SuperLoop, a new 8-mile circulator transit route providing frequent, higher speed transit service in the North University City area of San Diego, will begin interim service to nine stations on June 15.
April Board of Directors meeting actions available online
The SANDAG Board of Directors business meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2009 at 9 a.m. Members of the public not in attendance may listen live to this meeting by accessing the "Listen Live" link from the SANDAG Web site home page approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.
