SuperLoop to beginSuperLoop
interim service June 15

SuperLoop, a new 8-mile circulator transit route providing frequent, higher speed transit service in the North University City area of San Diego, will begin interim service to nine stations on June 15.

Metropolitan Transit System routes 201 and 202 will initially operate between University Towne Centre and University of California, San Diego via Genesee Avenue, Nobel Drive, Gilman Drive, and Voigt Drive including Scripps Memorial and Thornton Hospitals.

Service will operate seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., every ten minutes during peak hours, and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours.  A one-way fare is $2.25.SuperLoop Station

About SuperLoop:

  • Vehicles will comfortably accommodate 29 people in seats and offer plentyof standing room for additional riders.
  • Low-emission, gasoline-electric hybrid technology will provide a quieter, cleaner ride.
  • Vehicles are handicapped accessible and designed for quick boarding.

A special event to commemorate the SuperLoop launch will be held on June 15. For more information on the SuperLoop project and the event, visit www.sandag.org/superloop.

The SuperLoop project is expected to be fully implemented in fall 2010.
