SANDAG helps San Diego In the coming months, SANDAG will participate in the Stand For Less campaign. Stand for Less is a statewide effort that aims to reduce greenhouse gas-inducing habits in four key areas: water, electricity, transportation, and recycling. SANDAG will do its part by helping educate San Diegans on trip choices that can reduce individual contributions to greenhouse gas emissions, such as carpooling, transit, walking, and cycling. The Stand For Less campaign will launch on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park in San Diego. SANDAG will host a booth at the event to help raise awareness about the different commuter options available, and how people can lower their carbon footprints when they make alternative transportation choices to driving alone. The new RideLink regional rideshare tool, iCommute, will be highlighted. Actor and activist Ed Begley Jr. also will be at the event hosting educational workshops to answer questions about the campaign. Stand For Less is an effort by San Diego Forward to achieve the goals of the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32). Statewide partners include the California Department of Conservation, the California Energy Commission, the California Air Resources Board, the California Public Utility Commission, and the California Department of Water Resources. Local partners include SANDAG, San Diego Gas & Electric, the San Diego County Water Authority, and the California Center for Sustainable Energy. Project Manager |
