National City Councilman Ron Morrison is the new chairman of SANDAG’s Board of Directors for the period July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.

Morrison, a native San Diegan, has lived in National City since 1965. A member of his city council for the past eleven years, Morrison has represented National City on the SANDAG Board since 1998.

A licensed general contractor in the private sector, Morrison is the former SANDAG Vice Chairman. He is a leading advocate for getting state legislation enacted to strengthen regional governance among the area’s 18 cities and county communities.

SANDAG also elected Poway Mayor Mickey Cafagna to serve as Vice Chairman. Cafagna was first elected to the Poway City Council in 1992. He has been Poway’s mayor for the past five years, and has lived in Poway for the past 27 years. Cafagna owns and operates his own real estate business, which encompasses land planning, construction, property management, and a brokerage.
