SANDAG elects Board officers for 2007
The SANDAG Board of Directors elected Lemon Grove Mayor Mary Teresa Sessom as Chair, Escondido Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler as First Vice Chair, and Encinitas Deputy Mayor Jerome Stocks as Second Vice Chair, for one-year terms, beginning January 1, 2007.

Tribal representation signals growing collaboration
In a move to foster government-to-government collaboration, SANDAG unanimously approved a proposal to add San Diego County representative from the Southern California Tribal Chairmen’s Association (SCTCA) to its Board of Directors, and Transportation, Regional Planning, and Public Safety Policy Committees.

The new number for San Diego travelers soon will be 5-1-1
Getting around the San Diego region will be easier than ever as SANDAG collaborates with Caltrans, MTS, NCTD, and SAFE to launch the state-of-the-art 511 traveler information service in February 2007.

New and improved Pomerado Bridge to open soon
Crossing Interstate 15 soon will be easier for travelers in the North County as the new and improved Pomerado Bridge opens in the Rancho Bernardo area in late January 2007. Completed in just nine months, the bridge provides critical access to Pomerado Road and West Bernardo Drive.

Residents surveyed about infrastructure priorities
What are San Diego region residents’ priorities when it comes to building more freeway lanes, improving transit, and preserving open space? How should the region pay for new infrastructure? These questions have been posed to San Diego region residents in a survey conducted by SANDAG.

New traffic data now available
Each year, local jurisdictions collect traffic count data on significant roadways, and Caltrans collects similar information on state freeways and highways. SANDAG compiles this information to generate Average Daily Traffic Counts, which are two-way, 24-hour daily volumes (shown in thousands of vehicles).

Arrest rates in San Diego decline
Adult and juvenile arrest rates in San Diego County declined during 2005, according to the latest report from the SANDAG Criminal Justice Research Division.
