Work continues on the technical update to the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). This plan will update revenue and project cost projections to incorporate new TransNet funding and other funding sources (e.g., Proposition 42 funds); develop network and/or land use alternatives; and will serve to satisfy requirements for reporting air quality conformity analysis. SANDAG will use this work as the foundation for a more comprehensive RTP update in 2007.

Elements of the draft RTP were discussed and considered periodically at Transportation Committee, Stakeholder Working Group, and other meetings through November 2005. The draft RTP and draft supplemental Environmental Impact Report will be released for review and comment in December 2005. The final RTP and EIR will be presented to SANDAG for adoption in February 2006.

The RTP update is currently available for public review. This 2006 update was prepared from July to November 2005 with elements discussed and considered periodically at Transportation Committee, Stakeholder Working Group, and other meetings. The draft RTP and Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) were accepted for comment on December 9, 2005, and are available in PDF format.

Written comments on these documents will be accepted via letter, fax, or e-mail and must be received at SANDAG no later than Friday, January 27, 2006. In addition, SANDAG will hold a public hearing beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2006, at 401 B Street, Suite 800, San Diego CA 92101.

The final RTP and SEIR will be presented to the SANDAG Board of Directors on Friday, February 24, 2006.
