Be a Bike to Work Day pit stop sponsor!Bike to Word Day

Friday, May 15, 2009 is San Diego’s regional Bike to Work Day. Thousands of bicycle commuters are gearing up to
enjoy a fun and energizing bicycle ride to work! Each year SANDAG sponsors this unique event, and with the help of
San Diego County Credit Union, promotes bicycling to work
as a practical alternative to driving. Bicycling to work offers commuters a healthier, less stressful commute and is also a great way to help you save money and the environment!

Employers throughout San Diego County are teaming up to promote this popular annual event. Many are holding special activities throughout the week to recognize those who ride their bikes to work.

To help commuters on their ride, pit stops will be stationed around the region where you can take a break and get some free refreshments. Free goodies including healthy treats, water, and encouragement will be available for all participants at more than 40 pit stops. To become a pit stop sponsor, call 511 and say, “RideLink.”

The most important part of biking to work is being prepared. Visit our biking resources page to find more information, programs, and organizations that will get you ready for the ride to work. Free bike maps also can be ordered online. If you want more information about Bike to Work Day 2009 or bicycling in general, please e-mail biking@sandag.org or call 511 and say, “RideLink.”
