California Transportation Commission holds hearing at SANDAG
Representatives of the California Transportation Commission will hold a hearing at SANDAG on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, to listen to presentations and public comment on the region’s proposals for funding under the Trade Corridors Improvement Fund program.

511 celebrates its first year in operation
The free 511 phone system, which provides real-time transportation information, celebrates one year in operation in February 2008. Commuters continue to dial the system to make informed travel decisions.

Alcohol-related fatalities decline, but DUIs remain concern
The SANDAG Criminal Justice Research Division provides brief monthly faxes that report on current projects and other topics of interest to criminal justice agencies, school administrators, public officials, city and county administrators, social service and health agencies, and the general public.

Local companies can glitter with Diamond Awards
SANDAG is pleased to announce that nominations are being accepted for the 2008 Diamond Awards, which honor organizations and individuals for their outstanding contributions to reducing traffic congestion and improving the region's mobility.

Free workshop aims to increase workplace flexibility
SANDAG and the U.S. Department of Labor - Women's Bureau teamed up to highlight workplace flexibility options available to employers in the San Diego region.

Work begins on SR 52 extension
Drivers in Santee and communities to the east had good reason to celebrate the new year in January as officials broke ground on work to extend State Route 52 from SR 125 to SR 67.

SANDAG receives upgraded bond ratings
Standard & Poor’s assigned SANDAG an AAA credit rating on February 1, 2008, positioning the organization to sell $600 million in bonds at historically low interest rates to pay for transportation infrastructure projects.
