Beginning May 1, 2010, a $2 fee will be charged for new Compass Cards. To avoid this charge, always bring your card with you to reload it with your new transit pass. If you request a new card, the fee will be added to the cost of your transit pass. Your reusable Compass Card should last for several years. Just keep it. Reload it.
Buy Early
Monthly transit passes go on sale on the 20th of each month. For example, a person wishing to buy a March monthly transit pass can do so as early as February 20. So buy early and beat the rush!
Get Your Transit Pass at Vons
Vons is the exclusive grocery store outlet for transit passes on Compass Card. All Vons stores will sell and reload Compass Cards as of February 20, 2010. Compass Cards are available at Vons from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Compass Cards also can be purchased and reloaded at Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and North County Transit District (NCTD) locations. And, Compass Cards can be reloaded at ticket vending machines at all rail stations.
