State Route 905: Freight Intermodal
State Route 905

This busy six-lane, local surface street, Otay Mesa Road, which parallels the adopted alignment for SR 905, is presently the only access to the U.S./Mexico port of entry on Otay Mesa. SANDAG has projected that by the year 2020, the east-west vehicle traffic across Otay Mesa will increase dramatically to 230,000 daily trips. The completion of State Route 905 will provide the connection from Interstates 5 and 805 to the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, the only commercial vehicle crossing serving San Diego and Tijuana. It is an essential freeway connection that will close the highway gap and move people and goods across the U.S./Mexico gateway to access the international, regional, and local markets.
